Celebrate the Small Things

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

~Winnie the Pooh

This is the first in a series of posts that celebrates the small things that we do or see in life. Everyone tries to do the big things: the things people like to see on résumés and college applications, the things that masses of people look towards you in admiration for. But, no one realizes that it’s the smallest things that become the big things. Maybe that brief pause you took from scrolling through your text messages to start a conversation with the old man in the coffee shop made his day. He might have gone home thrilled that he wasn’t ignored like usual, that he was still noticed.  Maybe you made him smile for the first time all day, or even the first person to talk to him all day. Those smallest things define who we are and separate us from the 7 billion people on this planet. Small things matter.

Goal: Before you go to bed tonight, think about one small thing you did today, whether it was holding the door for someone or smiling at the stranger walking past you, and celebrate it!
